Steamfitters Local 602 - Apprentice Program
                                                          ~Application Process~

 

 

 

The Local 602 Joint Apprenticeship Committee will receive applications for the 2009-2010 school year on: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday of the first two weeks of January, 2009. Applicants must appear in person between the hours of 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM at either of the following two locations:

     1) In Maryland:
          The United Association Mechanical Trades School  8509 Ardwick Ardmore Road, Landover, Md. 20785.

                                                                                             ~or~
     2)
In Virginia :
          The United Assoication Mechanical Trades School 7552 Accotink Park Road, Springfield, VA. 22150

Applicants who are accepted will be enrolled in UAM for the school year beginning in September 2009.


Requirements for Steamfitter Applicants:
Minimum Age of 18 by July 1, in the year of application

High School Diploma earned by June 30, or GED Certificate earned by Jan. 31, in the year of application.
Presentation of the following documents at time of application:
          High School diploma (or letter stating that you will graduate in June of the year that you are applying) or               GED certificate

          Official transcript of High School grades or GED scores
        
Social Security Card
        
State Certified Birth Certificate
          INS Documents (if applicable)

          Photo Identification (Driver's License preferred)

          DD Form 214 (if Veteran Status)


All Steamfitters Applicants are required to pass a math tests and a drug test. The Drug Test must be passed if accepted into the program; it is given at random thereafter.

The Math Test must be passed with a grade of 70% in order to be CONSIDERED for an interview. Sample math tests are made available at the time of application and before. Applicants will be notified in person of the time and date of the math test at the time of application provided all required documents are in order, or by mail once the application is complete. Applicants who successfully pass the math test will be notified by mail to report for an interview. Applicants who fail the math test will be notified that they have the right to reapply next year.

 

All applicants who complete the requirements for application will be notified by mail when to report for an interview. Interviews are assigned on the completion and passing of the Math Test. The first people to successfully complete the math test will be interviewed first.
